get a seat in the pub for lunch!

It is with great regret and sadness that we announce the passing of our former Club President and great mate Ian Blackwell.
Ian had been battling cancer for some time and finally lost the battle on July 14th after a long hard fight. All our thoughts and
condolences go out to Mandy and the children, and to the rest of Ian's family. Always remembered.

February 20th, 2011:
The 18th All American Car Day and Swap Meet was held at the Gembrook Sports Ground on what started out as a very fine morning. The display featured American classic, vintage, veteran, hot rods and customs, Aussie Falcons, Holdens and Chrysler Valiants up to 1975 in show condition.
By late morning the clouds started rolling in, and a check on the Weather Bureau’s Rain Radar showed a thin band of approaching showers, which hung about about a lot longer than it looked on the screen. This sent most of the crowd packing and cars were exiting at a fast pace, only to be driving home on wet roads and getting covered with that dirty road spray. Some of us just sat in our cars and waited for the showers to stop, and then let the road dry out, chamois the car off, and then drove home in dry conditions. Way to go.

It’s happening – members have began receiving the Log Books regardless of renewal date.

Presently, to move a registered car to log book in the 60sAMCC, you would need obtain a RWC, obtain a Club Permit form & have it signed by one of the club’s VicRoads signatories, comply to any of the clubs requirements (eg. event attendance, car not extensively modified. The 60sAMCC guidelines are being drafted), de-register the car & apply for your club plates/permit windscreen label & log book.

Despite the weather, our planned run to Flowerdale on Sunday Dec 19th, did go ahead, to a point. That point being Whittlesea!
Three lone cars assembled at the Ringwood meeting point and cruised to Mill Park, to be met by a few more members in their daily drivers. So it was five cars heading up Plenty Rd, with some of the passengers checking the rain radar on their phones. It wasn't looking too flash up in the hills so we stopped in Whittlesea for some decision making. Just by chance, we realized we'd stopped opposite the Royal Mail Hotel, and it was decided to quit while we were ahead, and go in for what turned out to be great lunch.
It did rain for about an hour but by the time we departed, all was dry and it was a wiper-free drive home.

A certain '71 Dodge Challenger Convertible finally hit the road after a marathon 12(?) year restoration! Club members last saw the car on a rotisserie back in 2004. A very proud owner turned up back in Melbourne with the car, although a dodgey (excuse the pun) water pump gasket gave way, spewing coolant around the engine bay. Talk about hard luck on the maiden voyage.
After a big cleanup and a new gasket fitted, the car has now received its club plates and is looking forward to some summer cruising.
Look out for this one at the Knox Cruise next month!
