This weekend away was possibly one of the best events we have ever attended. Organized by Sydney's American Muscle Car Club, Canberra's American Car Club, and our very own Club, we converged on Albury on Friday May 13th at the wonderful Siesta Resort north of town. This is a huge venue with great rooms and undercover parking for all cars. After a meet and greet in the courtyards, it was into the function centre for a great smorgasboard dinner and some fun raffles and prizes.

Saturday morning after a huge cooked breakfast, it was time to cruise to Hovells Creek Reserve to assemble the cars for a two hour display which drew hundreds of onlookers. About noon, the entire fleet of cars took off for a cruise across to Beechworth where after a short look around town, we gathered at the old Courthouse where Ned Kelly was tried and convicted, and were treated to a re-enactment of that trial, with members playing the roles and reading from scripts.
After the trial, we took off in convoy yet again to cruise back to Albury via Yackandanda. Great weather all day, and a superb drive back. That evening, the owner of the Resort organized buses to take us out to dinner at the Woolshed Pub, a few km out of town. A top venue and a great meal and evening out was enjoyed by all.

Up and at 'em again Sunday morning with a cruise to a winery towards Rutherglen. Unfortunately some of our members started following the wrong cars and ended up joining the Sydney bound guys for about 30 km north until we figured something wasn't quite right. After some U-turns and phone calls we all eventually met in Howlong, and proceeded to the Cofield Winery and then on to Rutherglen for a (late) lunch, and then it was time to head back to Melbourne.

We express our thanks to Garry from Sydney, Chris from Canberra and to our own President Mark for organizing a wonderful weekend away. Many thanks also to the Resort owner Steve (who has Corvettes), for looking after us the entire weekend.
It was a chance to make some great new friends and we look forward to doing it again in 2012, bigger and even better!
